Reading the Crowd: Social Consensus and the Credibility of Polarized News

Experimental research proposal

A research proposal (2026) for a survey experiment. It asks how source identity (for example, alternative versus legacy media) and visible consensus cues (likes, comment tone) shape how credible young Nepali Facebook users find polarized political news.

The proposal builds on my earlier observational work, which showed patterns of attention but could not say why people find some sources believable. An experiment lets me vary these cues directly.
